When you get past the first few stages of golf, it is necessary to master the irons. Many golf players find that the irons are the hardest clubs to master but they can really mean the difference between a mediocre player and an excellent one. The problem is that there are so many golf irons available on the market right now that finding the right one for you is anything but easy.

It first of all very important that you recognize properly your level of skill. Some clubs are more forgiving than others and it could be a mistake to jump straight into one of the very hard to use clubs when you need a club which will allow for more mistakes as you are learning the game. Some people claim that if you buy a less forgiving club right at the start then it will teach you to play properly and, while this argument does carry some weight, most players will just be put off the game.

It is not just your overall skill level that you need to consider but also your individual strengths and weaknesses. If you find that you can't get enough lift on your shots then you will want to go for an iron that will help you in this department. Similarly if your swing already has a lot of power but you need more accuracy then this will need to be reflected in your choice of club.

It is next important to consider the brand of the iron. There are a number of irons out there which are quite cheap and made by strange brands. I would not recommend going for these and would suggest that you save up to get one of the very good and respectable brand. I know a number of people who have been enticed by the cheap price only to go on to buy a proper set of clubs six months later and not being able to sell the cheap clubs second hand.

There are two main different types of club, blade irons and cavity-back irons. Blade irons are more precise and accurate but are hard to hit unless you are quite experienced and have an excellent technique. Cavity-back irons are much more forgiving and can offer more power but are generally not as accurate.

Next, you should consider is the shaft type. There are two basic shaft types; Graphite and Steel. Steel shafts are generally cheaper than iron shafts and tend to last longer but they are a little harder to use and can put a strain on your muscles if you don't play regularly. Graphite shafts, on the other hand, work well to help someone who needs a bit more power or lift. If you have any kind of problems with your muscles then it is best to go for the graphite iron as it will not put so much strain on your tendons. There are some combinations of both steel and iron which claim to offer the best of both worlds, too.

In conclusion, there are a number of factors that need to be taken into consideration when choosing the best golf iron. Take your time and research properly; it will pay off on the course.

"And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethpage Black, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent forth two of his disciples.” (Mark 11:1 K.J.V.) “Verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall have great length on Earth shall have unheard of length in Heaven”, said Jesus to his disciples. And so the quest for great length off the tee began.

Every golfer is searching for the secret to golf. The secret is that there is a secret to golf, and you are about to learn it. Everyone knows that money is the root of all evil. Jesus commanded everyone to sell all of their possessions and to give all of the money to the poor. Are there any Christians on Earth today? When Jesus entered the Temple in Jerusalem he “began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, and he said, ‘Is it not written, My House shall be called of all nations the House of Prayer? But ye have made it a den of thieves.Ҕ (Mark 11:15-17).

During the time of Christ, golfers used wooden golf balls and wooden golf clubs made from the hickory tree. Then, in the early 1600’s, the featherie golf ball was invented. The featherie golf ball was a hand sewn cowhide bag stuffed with goose feathers and painted. Because it flew so beautifully, it lasted for 200 years. In 1848 Reverend Doctor Robert Adams hardened the sap of the gutta percha tree into latex and invented the gutta percha golf ball, which replaced the featehrie golf ball from 1850 until 1900, when rubber took over. The rubber balls lasted until 1930. Today’s balls have a titanium metal core with many layers of surlyn and balata coverings. Golf club shafts evolved from hickory tree wood with persimmon tree heads to steel shafts and now to graphite shafts with very large titanium heads. Despite the incredible advances in golf club and golf ball technology, the handicaps of male and female golfers have not gone down, according to noted author and custom club fitter Steven Passarell. How could this be? Here is the answer.

Famed Psychiatrist and 9 Handicap Sigmund Freud explained the human ego: “The human ego is the part of the cerebellum concerned most with feeling like a great human being. In many cases of over developed cerebelli, the human being begins to believe that in a prior life, he was the Messiah Jesus Christ, or Napoleon Bonaparte, as a defense mechanism to the haranguing of over critical parents and the resulting wounded ego.” (Austrian Journal of Medicine Volume XXIV, page 69). Golf club and golf ball manufacturers have known forever that the most important thing to the male and female golfer, the cure for an ego wounded in childhood is distance off the tee.

According to Stephen Hawking, the world’s greatest scientist, the Earth is 5 billion years old. A mere 2,500 years ago in Gehenna, just south of Jerusalem, in the valley of Gehinnom, the Jewish and non Jewish people of the land of Canaan used to sacrifice their first born male children on fire altars to the God Baal aka Beelzebub aka Satan. The drummers beat their drums loudly to drown out the screams of the burning alive babies. Golf club and golf ball manufacturers have known forever that golfers were perfectly willing to sacrifice accuracy and $500 for added distance off the tee. Their first clue was when golfers in the long drive competition would throw down their driver after their massive hit, and beat their chests with both fists, like the apes with which humans have 99% the same DNA.

From the time of Jesus Christ until the time of Jack Nicklaus, scientists knew that the exactly perfect length for the men’s driver was 43”. It didn’t matter how tall you were because God gave taller players longer arms. Every golf club manufacturer from the time of Jesus until the time of Jack knew that if you made the driver shaft even 1/8 of an inch longer, the golfer would hit into the ground, and in an effort not to hit into the ground, the golfer would make swing changes and then begin to spray the ball all over the park. This is why at long driving contests the fairway is the width of a football field and the golfers with their long shafts are still blowing it out of bounds.

In the 1990’s golf club manufacturers began to make the driver shafts 2 and 3 inches longer, 45” and 46”. They marketed the fact that these golf clubs hit the ball further and golfers did not care if their 300 yard drive flew two fairways over – that made the drive seem even longer. Ladies drivers went from the standard 42.5 inches used by Mary Magdalene and Kathy Whitworth to 44” and 45”. As Nike Golf made millions selling 45” drivers, Tiger Woods continued to play with 43” steel shafted Nike drivers, and Tiger continued to lead in driving distance and piled up major after major playing against Pros who had switched to the 45” driver trying to match Tiger’s distance. Augusta National lengthened their golf course after Tiger won the Masters at 18 under. Jack Nicklaus and Slammin’ Sammy Snead hit the ball 300 yards right down the middle using 43” steel shafts with persimmon tree heads. The whole time that Tiger was on his major rampage, Nike Golf refused to make drivers with 43” shafts available to the public.

Billions of dollars of advertising have gone into convincing the public that 45” and 46” drivers are the next best thing to the arrival of Jesus Christ. Taylor Made and Titleist and Callaway and Nike Golf are making fortunes selling these too long shafts, and the PGA of America couldn’t be happier. Their 32,000 golf professionals are making a fortune teaching golfers how to hit their too long woods and irons – a feat impossible for the average golfer, which leads to endless lessons and purchases of golf books and golf magazines filled with golf tips and videos and CD’s and golf swing training accessories. Suddenly, along comes Peter Kessler hawking the Perfect Club, because it goes straight, but the Perfect Driver loses about 75 yards in distance because get this, the shaft is 42 ½ inches. The ½ inch decrease costs the golfer a ton of yardage.

The first big golf company coming out with a graphite shafted 43” driver with a titanium head, with the new Prov1x golf ball, is going to wipe out the rest of the other golf club manufacturers, and bring the average handicap down by 8 shots, because there is no loss of distance, and the ball goes dead straight. In the meantime men cut your shaft down to 43” and ladies cut your shafts down to 42.5 inches. There will be no loss in accuracy or distance. Until then, choke up on your driver 2Ғ and watch the ball fly long and straight off that big sweet spot time after time again. Shaving 8 shots off your score instantaneously should be a good thing for your ego and your bank account. This will also speed up pace of play, David Fay. Hasn’t your ego suffered enough humiliation hunting for your $5 golf ball in the trees yet? In our next installment we will discuss how your golf club manufacturers silently de-lofted all of your club heads turning your 9 iron into a 7 iron to make you think that you are hitting your shaft lengthened de-lofted 9 iron farther. Didn’t Jack use his towering ball flight to hold the greens at Augusta? The pros have their clubs custom made. You aren’t using the same clubs they are. Only the label is the same.

Speaking of Jesus, the X factor golf swing has been heralded as a way to improve your distance. It means that you keep your left heel down, make a tiny hip turn and a big shoulder turn to hit the ball farther. A noted former PGA tour player turned orthopedic surgeon, Bill Mallon, M.D., calls this the fastest way to blow out your back and wind up in excruciating life long pain, in his book, “The Golf Doctor: How to Play a Better Healthier Round of Golf”. Didn’t Jack do OK letting his left heel come 2” off the ground? The surgeon recommends letting it come up even farther to save your back. Harry Vardon’s came up about 5 inches. Jesus recommended three. There is no need to sacrifice your back in your quest for added length off the tee. Try a longer driver, or a new golf psychologist. The only people not benefiting from these long shafts are the golfers. Everyone else, the whole golf industry, is laughing all the way to the bank.

How To Do A Golf Ball Comparison Accurately.

When they say there are no two golf balls that are exactly the same, they really mean it. Golf ball comparison is a mean skill and a survivor tool for the golfers' of modern times. Every single golf ball are manufactured to exact details that will fit a certain type of golfer. For the past recent months, people have been comparing golf balls in a very unfair way. To really get the best out of your game or even as a golf ball reviewer, let us put these golf balls on a fair light.

In the market, the golf balls can be differentiated into 3 different types. The 2 piece golf balls, they are made up with a solid core with a cover, are normally termed or recognized as the distance golf balls. They are generally in the lower compression range. There is also the 3 piece golf balls that have an extra mantle layer for added distance, control and spin. Not forgetting the 4 piece golf balls with dual core technology and some come with a feel mantle to provide a better touch off all clubs.

I have seen people making comparisons between Bridgestone e 5+ and Titleist Pro V1 and giving comments how Pro V1 is better than the e 5+. It is really like comparing an apple to an orange. There is no doubt that Pro V1 is a good 3 piece golf ball but if you would want to compare a 2 piece to a 3 piece golf ball, you are making an absolute unfair comparison.

To do a golf ball comparison accurately, we must remind ourselves of the following factors.

1. The golf ball category - Is this golf ball in the same category as the other? Taking a 2 piece vs a 4 piece, it would make an unfair comparison.

2.The target player profile - What kind of player profile is this golf ball situated for? If it is suited for a player with high swing speed, it would be natural for it to have a firmer core for more explosive reaction and compressibility. To compare it to a golf ball that is targeted for lower swing speeds, you are going to miss out on the opportunity what the golf ball might provide for you.

3. The value - As golf is an expensive game, the game play the golf ball provide for it's target audience must match the price that it is being sold for. If i can get a better playing golf ball in the same category that delivers the same playing option compare to another golf ball for a better price,
1000
definitely it would be more worth while.

Let us look into what you need as a golfer and what the golf ball provides to you. Every golf ball is good in it's own way and let us evaluate them fairly instead of giving critical comments based on your own personal preference. I am sure you will be able to compare them better and give a fairer review for the golfing community.

Golf Clubs for Beginners

The golf clubs for beginners need to be easy to handle. The following article deals with the necessary information related to the ideal golf clubs for beginners, various golf club products and also about the left hand golf clubs.

The wooden clubs are considered to be the best golf clubs for beginners. Different material like iron and the hybrid of wood & iron are also used for manufacturing golf clubs. However, wooden clubs are lighter in weight, and thus easy to handle.

Golf Clubs

These are the equipment used to hit golf balls and are made from iron, wood and hybrid materials (iron and wood). A special type of golf club called the putter is used to roll the ball across the turf.

Golf Clubs for Beginners

One who has just started playing or learning golf should not look for expensive golf clubs. The golf clubs are meant to hit the golf ball perfectly and with the required force. Beginners golf clubs should be such that they cater to this basic needs. One should thus choose a golf club properly. Buying golf clubs that are expensive is not a sure shot way to get a quality golf club. A golfer is allowed to carry 14 clubs with him; however, carrying these many clubs is not necessary for a beginner. If one thinks about buying an iron club, he should start with #5 or #6 size. The hybrid clubs (3, 4, 5) or fairway woods (5, 6) should be used for lofted shots.

Swing speed of the clubs and golf swing also plays an important role in the selection. Youngsters and women have an average swing speed of 65 - 80 mph. One should buy hybrid clubs and those with more wood for them. Golfers with an average speed of 80 - 90 mph should use few iron clubs (5 - 6). However, wooden and hybrid clubs should be used instead of long iron ones. The 3, 5 and 7 size wooden clubs should be given to beginners even if the swing speed is less. The wooden clubs have flat soles and larger heads than the iron ones, and thus help in increasing a beginner's confidence.

Beginners are advised to used a driver with a titanium head (440 - 460 cc). It is easy to hit with the help of these drivers. The driver needs to have an extra loft, around 10 - 12 degrees for men, while more than 12 degrees for women. It helps improve the accuracy and increases the distance.

Products

The ZR1 driver (460 cc) from 'Pinemeadow Golf' is suitable for beginners. Shot playing becomes a lot easier with this driver. It helps tackle or counter the 'slice' in an efficient manner.

In order to maintain consistency, the 'ZR1 Fairway Woods' is recommended for usage. One should purchase the #3 and #5 size woods.

If one is looking for buying a set of hybrid clubs, the 'ZR1 Hybrid Iron Set' is considered to be the best. The set consists of longer hybrid and short iron clubs.

The putter is the club that is often used by a beginner. The 'M-4' putter has a good alignment and balance. The shorter puts can be made easy with the help of this putter.

Left Hand Golf Clubs

For many years, the left handed golfers had to adjust with the right hand clubs for lack of choice. Today, there are many companies that offer left hand golf club products. 'Golf Smith', 'The Golf Warehouse', and 'Edwin Watts' are some of the many providers of left hand golf clubs.

Ping Golf Clubs

The golf club manufacturing company, 'PING' is catering to the needs of golfers for more than fifty years. The company manufactures a wide range of golf clubs. The 'PING Rapture V2 Irons', 'PING G10 Titanium Driver', and 'PING Rapture V2 Hybrid' are some the products manufactured by this company.

The golf clubs for beginners should allow them to play with ease and develop confidence. One should thus choose the golf clubs on how well he can handle it rather than mere price.

Choosing the right golf irons doesn’t have to be a super-complicated task, but it does require answering a few questions about a golfer’s skill level and desired performance.

For beginners and high handicappers, finding a set of irons with oversized heads is the way to go. That usually means a deep cavity back, wide sole, and perimeter-focused weighting that makes the club more forgiving, and a lower center of gravity that helps the ball get airborne. A ball that’s not hit on the sweet spot has a better chance of becoming a successful golf shot with the oversized heads, which is what golfers at this level are looking for.

Low handicappers who are confident in their ball-striking abilities are better off with a blade head. It’s not nearly as forgiving as the oversize, but offers much more control. It’s much easier to work the ball where a golfer wants it to go with the blade head, but the trick there is to hit the ball in the right spot.

Players with mid-range handicaps should go with midsize heads, which offer a larger sweet spot and lower center of gravity, and more control than an oversized head. They offer a greater degree of workability while still being forgiving enough to keep slight mis-hits from becoming disasters. Like the oversized heads, these usually have a cavity-back design, but one that is less pronounced than in the game improvement models.

Whether a golfer is just starting out or a scratch player, it’s always useful to get fitted by a reputable pro shop. Among other things, that will help to ensure that the shaft size and flex are appropriate for each golfer. As a general rule, the slower the swing speed, the more flexible the shaft should be to ensure greater distance. Stronger players will find that a stiff shaft helps their accuracy.

Tiger Woods uses Nike - everybody knows he has made the switch. The irons that Tiger Woods favours are actually custom made, but they are very similar to the Nike Victory Forged TW Blades.

The TW Blades themselves are widely used on the PGA Tour. As at the time of writing, Stewart Cink and Paul Casey were amongst the Tour pros who have the Nike Victory TW's in their bag.

These irons are made with the elite golfer in mind. They offer all the workability in the world, and will not forgive poor swingers of the ball. They are also quite expensive - retail price ranges from $700 to $1,100 for a set. The hefty price tag, however, is justified when you take these irons out on the course.

Part 1 - Lean.

Leaning correctly is of utmost importance to achieve a professional golf swing. In order to make a solid impact with the ball, your iron and your body must be positioned precisely. If you fail to achieve correct positioning, you will fail to strike the ball crisply.

The secret to a good iron shot is to squash the ball against the ground first, before scooping it up with the club face. In order to achieve that, the top of your iron grip needs to be in front of the ball as you are looking down at the point of contact.

MISTAKE: What most recreational golfers do is they hit the ball so that the grip is directly above the ball, or even behind the ball at impact, thus fumbling the shot and lacking the control they would have otherwise had.

CORRECT: Position yourself so that at the moment of impact with the ball, your hands and the grip of your iron about 3cm (1 inch) in front of the ball. This will assist you to achieve correct trajectory, will push the ball against the grass first, and then the iron will pick it up and throw it high up into the air.

Hope you enjoyed the first tip in the Golf Iron Swing Tips series!
