Callaway X-20 Irons Review

Another in the long standing tradition of excellence in iron production, the Callaway X-20 irons feature all of the core technologies and advances that make Callaway irons among the most advanced on the market.  The Callaway X-20 irons are an exceptional incarnation of the traditional Callaway head shape, representing marked visual advancements over earlier versions of the X Series irons. A long way from the X-12's of the 90's, they are as visually appealing as they are technically sound.

Notable Differentiators

When first taking position over the ball with the X-20's, the sight presented by the thick top line can't help but boost a player's confidence.  As with all of the irons Callaway produces, the feel at contact is amazing.  Even on off-center hits when many clubs will leave your hands shaking, the X-20 Irons feel as solid as a squarely struck ball.  Callaway accomplishes this with a consistent combination of unique technologies that together provide a club previously unparalleled in their line.

With a center of gravity 6% lower than pervious models, the X-20 Irons are supremely forgiving.  This is achieved primarily through Callaway's patented Extreme Notch Weighting, which increases the moment of inertia for improvements in stability and a larger, more forgiving sweet spot.

The Bottom Line

Like all of Callaway's iron sets, the X-20's can be customized to your game.  And, while they are perfectly playable with the stock configuration, the minimal investment in time and money to have them fitted is well worth the effort.  Used by PGA Tour player Eduardo Romero when he won the 2008 Dick's Sporting Goods Open, the X-20's are superb irons that are money well spent.
