Callaway X18R Irons Review

Callaway has taken a giant step in the right direction for recreational golfers everywhere with the release of their Callaway X18R iron set.  Inspired by their higher-end, tour focused X-series irons, the X-18R provides many of the same advances enjoyed by tour pros, at a significantly more aggressive price point.

Notable Differentiators

The X-18R irons, while sharing the name of an earlier Callaway model, are indeed a new offering.  While they leverage many of the patented technologies Callaway is famous for, there are a few things that set these irons apart from their predecessors.  Unlike traditional X-Series irons, the Callaway X-18R has a solid hosel resulting in a slightly different look at setup.  Additionally, the design presents with a slightly reduced offset and a squared toe, which players have praised in helping them align and strike their shots more consistently. The core differentiator is that the X18R irons possess much more forgiveness than the X18, X20 and X22 irons.

The Bottom Line
The X-18R series irons are a tremendous value and are easily on par with their more expensive counterparts.  Without question, one of the best iron values Callaway has ever fielded.  Much to the delight of casual golfers everywhere, Callaway has fielded an iron that can be had for a song, and will having you singing their praises after every 18 holes you play.
