Nike SQ Sumo Irons Review
Whether they're made from graphite or steel, a set of Nike SQ Sumo Irons can do a lot to shore up shortcomings many golfers find on the course.
The clubs are designed to be forgiving, with a high MOI and a low and deep center of gravity. Each iron has a deeper clubface than previous Nike models, which helps maximize ball speed and accuracy. The blades are long and wide, and weighted for increased stability at impact. All of this is to help reach the “super moment of intertia,” with the first two letters of the first two words inspiring the “Sumo” name.
Also making impact more appealing is a lightweight shaft with a TPU insert that dampens vibrations, meaning that a cold-weather shot won't still be reverberating through your arms and shoulders three holes later.
In addition, the Nike SQ Sumos has its long irons (4-7) set up to help keep those shots flying long and straight. They come with a lightweight cryo steel face that increases the size of the sweet spot for increased distance and forgiveness.
The traditional set of Nike SQ Sumo Irons includes the 4-9 irons, PW and AW. A 3-iron and SW are also available.
